Specialty chemicals maker Nouryon has started generating solar power at its Morris, Illinois plant, its first U.S. on-site solar project. The array was developed with Convergent Energy and Power and is expected to produce about 3,400 megawatt-hours per year, covering roughly 10% of the site's electricity use and avoiding an estimated 1,152 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The Morris project follows similar on-site renewable installations in Belgium, Singapore, and China. Nouryon says renewable sources supplied 54% of its global electricity in 2025, and the company has set a 2030 target to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from a 2019 baseline. Upcoming solar work is planned at its Fort Worth and Houston, Texas facilities and in Asa, Japan.
