Bernhard Schulte has launched the Northern Purpose, a specialized liquefied CO2 carrier designed to support the Northern Lights carbon capture and storage project in Norway. The vessel will transport captured industrial emissions from Northwest Europe to permanent geological storage sites under the Norwegian continental shelf. The ship features a 7,500 cubic meter capacity and utilizes LNG dual-fuel propulsion. To further lower its own carbon footprint, the vessel is equipped with wind-assisted rotor sails and an air lubrication system.
