North Bay is constructing a new community recreation centre designed to meet the Canada Green Building Council's Zero Carbon Building Design Standard. The 63 million dollar facility will include two ice pads and a walking track, serving as a model for low-carbon public infrastructure in Canada. The city has opened a request for quotations for naming rights to help monetize the facility. This project highlights the integration of sustainability standards into municipal sports and fitness hubs to reduce long-term operational emissions.
