NorSAF and Nova Pangaea Technologies Partner on Latvian Waste-to-SAF Supply Chain
ethanolproducer.comNorSAF and Nova Pangaea Technologies have signed an MOU to develop a waste biomass-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply chain in Latvia. The partnership aims to use Baltic waste feedstocks instead of relying on imported used cooking oil, which the companies say leaves Europe's aviation fuel supply exposed to global market shocks. Nova Pangaea's technology is based on research from the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry and is already part of Project Speedbird with British Airways and LanzaJet. NorSAF runs a liquid storage terminal in Liepaja and is working on a SAF and eSAF production facility there. Production is expected to start in 2031. The deal is early stage, but it connects a U.K.-based technology developer to a Baltic feedstock supply chain, which is the kind of project that matters for regional fuel decarbonization.
