Norfund and Impact Fund Denmark take 49% stake in Vena Energy's 500 MWp Philippine solar project
technode.globalNorfund and Impact Fund Denmark agreed to buy a combined 49% equity stake in Vena Energy's 500 MWp Ixus Bugallon solar project in Pangasinan, Philippines. The deal is pending approval from the Philippine Competition Commission. Vena Energy stays the majority owner and operator. Financial terms and the split between the two development finance institutions were not disclosed. The project reached financial close in July 2026 with about $310 million in senior debt from eight international banks. It was awarded capacity under the Department of Energy's second Green Energy Auction Program. The sponsors estimate the plant will supply electricity equivalent to the annual use of more than 650,000 households and avoid about 570,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, though those are projections, not verified operating results. For investors tracking Southeast Asian renewable project finance, the deal is notable because it pairs DFI equity with commercial bank debt. The bigger open questions are grid connection timing, the power price under the auction, and when the plant starts commercial operation.
