Noida International Airport uses low-carbon LC3 cement to cut construction emissions by 40 percent

Noida International Airport in India is the country's first large-scale project to use Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) across its construction. This low-carbon alternative to traditional Portland cement cuts carbon emissions from cement production by roughly 40 percent. The airport is being built as a net-zero-ready facility in Uttar Pradesh and aims to reduce congestion at Delhi's airports while setting a new standard for sustainable infrastructure in India. LC3 replaces a large portion of energy-intensive clinker with calcined clay and limestone, which requires lower kiln temperatures and produces fewer emissions. The technology is commercially available and can be integrated into existing cement plants without major redesign. India's rapid airport, highway, and rail expansion creates a strong opportunity for scaling LC3 adoption across the country's construction sector.
