Noble Carbon, a Pittsfield, Massachusetts startup, is building smart circuit breakers that let homes add EV chargers, heat pumps, and induction stoves without expensive electrical panel upgrades. The breakers adjust power in real time to the largest appliances, keeping total home draw under the panel's limit. The company says installation takes under five minutes and is currently undergoing UL certification. Noble Carbon is working with utility Eversource to install the breakers in up to 200 multifamily units in Massachusetts. It will also present at TechCrunch Disrupt as part of the Startup Battlefield in October. For homeowners, the main benefit is avoiding the panel upgrade cost that can more than double charger installation expenses.
