NMDC Net Zero by 2047: 90% Emissions Cut Roadmap for Iron Ore Operations
indianmasterminds.comNMDC Limited, India's state-run iron ore producer, has announced a target to reach net zero operational emissions by 2047, covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The company plans a minimum 90% reduction in operational emissions through a three-phase roadmap running from FY2026 to FY2047, with the remaining emissions addressed via offsets. Key measures include renewable energy integration, energy efficiency, fleet electrification, low-carbon fuels, CCUS, and demand-side management. NMDC already operates a 10.5 MW wind facility and solar installations, and is expanding rail freight and slurry pipeline logistics to cut transportation emissions. The plan focuses on direct reduction first, with offsets only for the final 10%.
