NLC India Limited and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop 700 MW Indigenous Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor projects. This joint venture is a strategic move to help India reach its goal of 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047. The initiative follows the December 2025 SHANTI Bill and supports India's broader Net Zero Carbon vision. By diversifying into nuclear energy, NLC India aims to strengthen the country's low-carbon energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
