South Hams councillors have approved nine new homes next to Berry Pomeroy Primary School in Devon, ending a year-long deferral over drainage, parking, and carbon footprint concerns. Developer Maze returned with an updated drainage strategy, fixed construction hours, and a pledge to fit each home with an air source heat pump. The approval passed three votes to one with one abstention. Councillors Georgina Allen and Victor Abbott still questioned whether sewage treatment would be good enough before water reaches a brook that flows into the River Dart. Allen noted that three recent developments already have sewage running into the Dart. Maze will pay just over 200,000 pounds toward local affordable housing, or provide three homes as affordable. The Environment Agency and South West Water told the committee the drainage scheme was acceptable.
