Nigeria used the inaugural Nigeria Climate Investment Summit in London to pitch itself as Africa's top destination for climate finance. The country is seeking nearly $350 billion to reach net-zero by 2060, with a focus on renewable energy, carbon markets, and green infrastructure. Sam Onuigbo, who sponsored Nigeria's Climate Change Act, told investors that backing Nigeria means access to a future continental market of over 2.5 billion people. The pitch leans on recent policy moves: fuel subsidy removal, the Electricity Act update, a National Carbon Market Framework expected to generate $2.5 to $3 billion annually, and a sovereign green bond that was 82% oversubscribed. Nigeria also highlighted its energy access gap, with over 90 million people lacking electricity, as a massive investment opportunity in solar, mini-grids, and storage. The summit was part of London Climate Action Week and aimed to connect global capital with Nigeria's net-zero 2060 plan.
