Nigeria's Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu pitched the country as a prime destination for climate and green economy investments at the Nigeria Climate Investment Summit in London. He highlighted immediate opportunities in distributed renewable energy, solar mini-grids, battery storage, clean cooking, electricity transmission, and industrial energy efficiency. Other sectors include climate-smart agriculture, cold-chain logistics, electric mobility, waste-to-value systems, and climate adaptation infrastructure like flood control and coastal protection. Kalu linked these opportunities to Nigeria's recent economic reforms including fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange unification, which he said improved investor confidence. He cited the Climate Change Act and Electricity Act as legal frameworks supporting private sector participation and carbon budgeting. He also proposed a structured Nigeria-London Green Finance Partnership to develop investor-ready projects and accelerate capital flow into Nigeria's green economy.
