NIFC certifies 15 firms in Kenya targeting Ksh26B in climate finance and carbon market investments
citizen.digitalKenya's Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC) has certified 15 new firms expected to mobilize over Ksh26 billion (US$200 million) in investments and create more than 1,000 jobs. The certified companies operate in sectors including climate finance, carbon markets, bioenergy, digital finance, fintech, and capital markets infrastructure. Notable names include Giraffe Bioenergy Limited, which focuses on bioenergy and carbon credit projects, and Africa First Exchange (A1X), a capital markets infrastructure firm. The certifications are part of Kenya's push to position Nairobi as a regional financial hub and attract capital into sustainable investments. NIFC CEO Daniel Mainda said the firms represent a vote of confidence in Kenya's future. The authority has also signed cooperation agreements with financial centers in Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Casablanca to strengthen links with global capital markets. The move aligns with Kenya's broader strategy to expand its green economy through carbon finance, afforestation, and bioenergy projects.
