Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has reduced its asthma treatment emissions by 18 percent. This was achieved by switching eligible patients from pressurized metered dose inhalers, which use potent greenhouse gas propellants, to dry powder alternatives. The initiative resulted in an estimated reduction of 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent over one year. The trust focused on clinician training and improved disposal practices to ensure patient care remained the priority while lowering the environmental footprint of respiratory medicine.
