NF Railway commissions 345 kWp rooftop solar plant at Agartala Coaching Depot, exports surplus to grid
neherald.comNortheast Frontier Railway has commissioned a 345 kWp on-grid rooftop solar power plant at the Agartala Coaching Depot in Tripura. The installation uses available rooftop space to generate solar electricity, and officials report the facility now produces more power than it consumes. Surplus daytime generation is exported back to the grid, reducing reliance on conventional electricity sources. The project is part of Indian Railways' broader push for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. Expected benefits include lower electricity costs, reduced peak-hour demand, and a smaller carbon footprint for the depot. NFR says it will continue similar initiatives to improve energy efficiency across its network.
