Nexture's first group sustainability report: 94% renewable electricity, certified cocoa and palm oil, product carbon footprints
foodanddrinktechnology.comNexture, the food ingredients group behind CSM Ingredients and Italcanditi, has published its first group-wide sustainability report. The 2025 baseline covers decarbonisation, responsible sourcing, packaging, and people, with a common framework across five businesses. Reported figures include 94% renewable electricity, 74% Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa, 67% RSPO certified palm oil, and no waste sent to landfill. The company also launched a Product Carbon Footprinting programme and says Egg 'n Easy Plus, an egg-reduction ingredient, has a carbon footprint of 0.42 kg CO2e per kg, about 90% lower than a typical European liquid barn egg when diluted. Nexture plans to assess around 50 products in 2026. Its 2030 packaging targets call for 90% recyclability, 45% recycled content, and 45% renewable materials. For food manufacturers, the report is a useful example of turning ESG commitments into operational baselines. The main open question is how progress will be tracked as newly acquired businesses like Frulact and Sipral are integrated into future reporting.
