New Zealand Government Introduces New Framework for Voluntary Carbon and Nature Markets
environment.govt.nzThe New Zealand government is launching a new approach to increase trust and private investment in voluntary carbon and nature markets. The framework establishes two pathways for project validation, recognizing established international accreditation and creating a domestic endorsement process based on national integrity principles. This initiative aims to attract private funding for wetland restoration, native planting, and carbon removal projects. It also expands the possibility for voluntary market projects to operate on public conservation land, provided they meet Department of Conservation requirements.
