Researchers from the University of Utah have developed a high resolution biomass dataset covering 40 years of ecological change in Arctic and boreal regions. The map uses 30 meter resolution to track how wildfires, drought, and warming temperatures affect the ability of northern forests to store carbon. Two accompanying studies highlight the inconsistencies in current satellite data and provide a guide for policymakers to choose the most reliable datasets for national carbon accounting and climate mitigation strategies.
