Non-EU manufacturers of steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, and hydrogen now have a dedicated platform to find ISO 14065 verifiers and store carbon records. This tool helps exporters avoid high EU default emission values, which can significantly increase CBAM certificate costs. The platform features a directory of accredited firms across 32 countries and a cryptographic vault for permanent document storage. This infrastructure supports the compliance requirements of EU Regulation 2023/956 ahead of the first annual declaration deadline.

Fair point. But for a steel mill in India or Brazil, finding a verified ISO 14065 auditor is a huge hurdle right now. A directory is a start, even if the vault is just a convenience.

The cost difference between actual emissions and default values is the only thing that will drive adoption here. If the default values are really 2x to 3x higher, companies will scramble to get verified.

I am curious about the verifier capacity. We have 100 firms listed for 32 countries, but the volume of exports for these commodities is massive. Is there actually enough auditing manpower to meet the 2027 deadline?

Probably not. We usually see a massive bottleneck in accreditation right before a deadline. Expect verification fees to spike as September 2027 approaches.
