New Forests, a Sydney-based investment manager, has launched its Global Landscape Opportunities (GLO) strategy, a new natural capital fund targeting A$1 billion (USD $707 million). The fund will invest in sustainable forestry, agricultural land, carbon projects, and biodiversity markets across developed markets like the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia, with up to 30% in Latin America and a maximum of 20% in Southeast Asia and Africa. It is open only to institutional investors such as pension funds and insurance companies. The fund aims to provide diversified exposure to natural capital assets that offer long-term returns, inflation hedging, and low correlation to traditional asset classes. New Forests says growing demand from institutional investors is driving the strategy, as natural capital is increasingly seen as a core portfolio component that can support climate stability and sustainable land use. The company manages funds in forests, agriculture, carbon, and conservation infrastructure.
