Sydney-based investment manager New Forests has launched the Global Landscape Opportunities (GLO) fund, a $707 million (A$1 billion) natural capital fund that will invest in forestry, agriculture, and carbon and biodiversity markets. The fund targets institutional investors like pension funds and insurance companies. The fund will allocate 60-80% of its portfolio to developed markets including the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, with up to 30% going to Latin American markets like Brazil and Uruguay. A maximum of 20% will go to Southeast Asia and Africa. New Forests says the strategy responds to growing demand for investment approaches that combine long-term returns with climate and biodiversity outcomes.
