New cross-sector network launches to boost low-carbon building materials across UK and Europe

A new cross-sector network called the ROOT To Market Dynamic Marketplace has launched across the UK and Europe to accelerate the use of regenerative materials in construction. Developed by Woodknowledge Wales and supported by Reconomy, the platform offers curated supply chains, procurement support, and training for building firms looking to source sustainable materials and talent. Major industry players including Morgan Sindall Construction and HLM Architects are already involved. The network aims to build supply chain capacity rather than restrict it, assessing suppliers on their maturity and helping them improve over time. This approach opens doors for SMEs and regional producers to participate more broadly. The initiative is part of a wider push to keep resources in use longer, reduce waste, and unlock the full potential of low-carbon materials in the built environment across Europe.
