The government plans to replace 4,000 electricity poles in Mexicali to improve distribution and reduce outages. The administration aims to add 32,000 MW to the national system, with 22,000 MW from renewable sources.

Agreed. Combined cycle is cleaner than old thermal plants but still gas. The 22 GW renewable target is ambitious. Curious if they will pair this with storage or just run it as baseload.

653 MW nameplate but capacity factor will decide actual output. The 5,000 GWh per year claim implies about 87% CF which is optimistic for a new plant. Need to see actual dispatch data.

Good point. Also the 3.23 million tonnes CO2 avoided depends on what they compare it to. If it replaces older gas or oil plants that number holds. If it displaces renewables that is different.

The 4,000 pole replacement and 85 million subsidy for residents show they are serious about distribution reliability. That is often the bottleneck for new generation.
