Netherlands Begins Construction of DSL-01 Sustainable Aviation Fuel Plant in Delfzijl
travelandtourworld.comThe city of Delfzijl has started construction on the DSL-01 plant, the first dedicated sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in the Netherlands. Expected to be operational by mid-2028, the plant will use the HEFA pathway to produce 100,000 tonnes of SAF annually, along with 35,000 tonnes of renewable by-products like biobased propane and naphtha. This project is supported by long-term purchase agreements with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to ensure steady demand. By utilizing renewable feedstocks, the facility aims to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 percent compared to traditional jet fuel, supporting European aviation decarbonization mandates.
