Greek shipowner Neptune Lines is retrofitting two pure car carriers, the Neptune Tharros and Neptune Ethos, with Value Maritime's Filtree system. The technology currently removes 98% of SOx and significant particulate matter to meet SECA area requirements. The ships are designed to be carbon capture ready, with dedicated onboard space reserved for future integration of carbon capture ducts. Installations are scheduled for summer 2026 in the Mediterranean.

Reserved space is the smart part here. Retrofitting a duct later is a nightmare if you have to move other machinery. Still, I want to see the maintenance schedule for these scrubbers in saltwater environments.
