Nepal launches carbon market development mission to attract climate finance and build registry, MRV, and project pipeline
risingnepaldaily.comNepal is moving to build a national carbon market ecosystem. The Carbon Market Development Mission Nepal, launched by Headway Earth and Rezonance, will focus on capacity building, project development, and access to international climate finance. Initial sectors include forests, agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, and biochar. The mission plans to develop bankable climate projects, create a national carbon registry and marketplace, and set up transparent measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems. Organizers also aim to establish a Carbon Fund and Carbon Bank for Nepal to mobilize domestic and international capital. The long term goal is to connect Nepali projects with global carbon buyers and investors while building the institutional infrastructure needed for credible carbon credits. Success will depend on strong governance and clear project standards.
