Neg8 Carbon wins international CCUS breakthrough award for low-temperature direct air capture
techcentral.ieWaterford based Neg8 Carbon has won the WCCUS Breakthrough Technology Award at the World CCUS Conference in Edinburgh. The company's direct air capture system uses low temperature sorbent regeneration and can run on heat that industrial facilities would otherwise reject. That approach is meant to lower the energy cost of pulling CO2 from ambient air, one of the main barriers to scaling DAC. Neg8 says the captured CO2 can be stored and sold as carbon credits, or used for alternative fuels and water purification. The company says its technology is ready to move toward commercial deployment. More technical details on cost per tonne, energy use, and verification of carbon credits would help show how close this is to real-world scale.
