Researchers from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) are surveying rural Tainan to evaluate yellow carbon and natural carbon sinks. The team is specifically examining soil carbon levels in sweet potato fields to find new ways for agriculture to reach net zero goals. The project also looks at the restoration of the endangered White Wax Apple. By combining cultural preservation with environmental science, the team aims to create a scalable model for developing natural carbon sinks in rural landscapes.
