NatureWorks and PTTGC Launch New PLA Bioplastics Plant in Thailand
kaohooninternational.comNatureWorks, a joint venture between PTT Global Chemical and Cargill, has opened a new fully integrated Polylactic Acid (PLA) production facility in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand. The plant uses 100% locally sourced sugarcane to produce compostable bioplastics for use in packaging, 3D printing, and consumer goods. With an annual capacity of 75,000 tons, the facility aims to establish Thailand as a regional hub for bio-based materials in Asia. This expansion reduces reliance on US-based production and supports the transition toward a circular economy by providing lower-carbon alternatives to traditional plastics.
