cambrian-news.co.ukThe National Library of Wales, in partnership with DB3, has won a Constructing Excellence in Wales Retrofit Award for a project that cuts the library's carbon footprint. The retrofit includes air and ground source heat pumps, 1,622 solar panels, and an intelligent building management system to improve energy efficiency across the historic estate. Chief Executive Rhodri Llwyd Morgan said the award reflects the library's commitment to investing responsibly in its historic building while reducing emissions. The project proves that complex heritage buildings can be upgraded to modern sustainability standards without losing their character. The work was supported by Welsh Government and delivered by a team including Aber Heating Engineers and LEB Construction.
