Cheap sensors are fine for basic alerts, but the real issue is usually the age of the piping in these older buildings. A detector tells you when you have a problem, but it does not fix the leak. I wonder if there are any subsidies for actual pipe replacement.
That is the gap between safety advice and policy. Naftogaz is pushing the cost and responsibility onto the consumer. If the infrastructure is failing, the utility or the state should be funding the upgrades, not just suggesting a 1,200 hryvnia alarm.
The mention of maintenance bills in March 2023 makes this feel like a way to soften the blow of price hikes. Are these detectors integrated with any shut off valves, or are they just sirens? A siren is useless if no one is home to turn the valve.
