Bristol-based biotech company Mykor has raised £4 million to scale its biofabrication platform. The company uses engineered mycelium and industrial waste to create low-carbon construction products, including prefabricated walls and insulation, aimed at reducing embodied carbon in buildings. Their flagship MykoSIP system claims significant carbon savings over traditional polystyrene products while using less water and electricity. Rather than building its own factories, Mykor integrates its technology into existing manufacturing lines to speed up adoption across the UK and Europe.
