Mykor Raises £4m to Scale Mycelium-Based Low Carbon Construction Materials

Bristol-based Mykor has secured £4 million in funding to scale its biofabrication process, which converts agricultural and industrial waste into construction products. The company focuses on reducing embodied carbon in the built environment, specifically targeting the high emissions associated with traditional insulation and wall systems. Their lead product, MykoSIP, is a prefabricated partition wall that offers significant carbon savings compared to polystyrene alternatives. By acting as a technology platform, Mykor allows manufacturers to integrate these biomaterials into existing production lines, speeding up the transition to low-carbon building materials.
