Bristol-based startup Mykor has secured £4 million in new funding to scale the production of its MykoSIP partition walls. These panels use engineered mycelium and industrial biomass waste to replace traditional polystyrene insulation, reducing embodied carbon by at least 50 percent. The company reports that its fungi-based panels use 90 percent less water and 40 percent less electricity during manufacturing. Mykor has already secured agreements worth £338 million with contractors across the UK and Europe to integrate these materials into large scale building projects.
