Bristol-based biotech firm Mykor has secured £4 million in funding to expand the production of its biofabricated construction systems. The company uses engineered mycelium and agricultural waste to create building products, such as the MykoSIP partition wall, which aims to reduce embodied carbon by at least 50 percent compared to traditional materials. With total funding now at £7.5 million, Mykor is scaling its manufacturing model to meet £338 million in offtake agreements with contractors across the UK and Europe. The investment, led by Clean Growth Fund, focuses on integrating these sustainable materials into existing industrial supply chains without increasing costs.
