Bristol-based startup Mykor has secured €4.6 million in funding to scale the production of construction materials made from industrial and agricultural waste. By using engineered mycelium and green chemistry, the company aims to replace high-carbon traditional building materials with sustainable alternatives. The funding, led by Clean Growth Fund, will help Mykor integrate biofabricated systems into mainstream construction supply chains. This effort targets the reduction of embodied carbon, which currently accounts for a significant portion of global emissions from the built environment.
