Bristol-based startup Mykor has secured €4.6 million in funding to scale its biofabrication technology. The company uses engineered mycelium and agricultural waste to create low-carbon alternatives to traditional construction materials, specifically targeting the high embodied carbon found in building insulation and walls. Their primary product, MykoSIP, is a preassembled partition wall that reduces carbon emissions by at least 50% compared to standard systems. By integrating their process into existing industrial production lines, Mykor aims to decarbonize the built environment without increasing costs or sacrificing structural performance.
