The Indian government is reviewing a proposal to create a Blue Carbon Urban Complex in Mumbai. The plan aims to integrate mangrove conservation, wetland protection, and flamingo habitats into a unified framework to boost the city's climate resilience. By focusing on the blue carbon economy, the project seeks to turn Mumbai into a global model for urban coastal conservation. The initiative was submitted by the NatConnect Foundation and is currently under priority review by the Maharashtra State Wetland Authority.
