New research indicates that climate policies targeting non-CO2 greenhouse gases create uneven financial burdens across global households. While addressing multiple gases is necessary for effective mitigation, the costs do not fall equally. This study highlights the risk of increasing economic disparity when expanding climate targets. It suggests that without careful design, multi-gas mitigation strategies could disproportionately impact vulnerable populations.
