MP Robbie Moore opposes Calderdale Energy Park wind farm on Walshaw Moor peatland citing carbon storage and wildlife risks

Conservative MP Robbie Moore has pledged to fight the Calderdale Energy Park, a large wind farm and energy infrastructure project proposed for Walshaw Moor in Yorkshire. Moore argues the development would damage internationally important peatland that stores carbon, disrupt wildlife like the curlew, and harm the historic Brontë Country landscape. He says he supports renewable energy but believes this is the wrong location. The project would require 600,000 tonnes of granite and up to 148 HGV movements daily for 16 months during construction. Moore and local campaign groups worry that disturbing peat to build turbine foundations and roads could release stored carbon, undermining the project's climate goals. The developer has defended the plans, but the MP says the fight is not over.
