The iconic Morris JE van is getting an electric relaunch with a carbon fibre body and options for ute and camper variants. The new Morris JE is built on an aluminum skateboard platform and offers a 1000 kg payload with up to 6 cubic meters of cargo volume. Range on the largest 83 kWh battery is expected around 500 km. Production for the UK market starts with pilot runs in 2027 and commercial scale in South Wales in 2028. Pricing is set at about 69,000 pounds (around $131,200 AUD), which is nearly double the cost of competing electric vans like the Farizon SV or Kia PV5. The company plans to export to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and North America after the UK launch, though the author expresses skepticism about timely arrival in Australia given past startup delays.
