Morimatsu Dialog Malaysia and Australia's ECOPHA Pty Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop modular bio-refineries for sustainable aviation fuel and bioplastics. The agreement was reported by Petromindo and appears aimed at combining Morimatsu Dialog's engineering and fabrication capacity with ECOPHA's process technology. Modular bio-refineries could reduce construction time and capital cost compared with traditional large-scale plants. If the projects move forward, they would target two sectors that are hard to decarbonize: aviation and plastics. The MoU is an early-stage deal, and details on feedstock, capacity, and timelines are not yet public. Anyone tracking SAF supply or bio-based plastics should keep an eye on this one. The partnership is cross-border, with Malaysia as a likely manufacturing base and Australia as the technology side. Watch for concrete project announcements after the MoU phase.
