Brazilian carbon project developer Mombak has announced the first close of its second Amazon reforestation fund, targeting $150 million. The fund builds on the company's earlier $120 million vehicle and will finance native tree planting on degraded pastureland in the Brazilian Amazon. Mombak also secured a $40 million credit line from Brazil's national development bank BNDES, and has already delivered its first carbon removal credits to buyers including Google and McKinsey, more than two years ahead of schedule. Salesforce has signed a multi-year offtake agreement to purchase future carbon removal credits from Mombak, counting toward the tech giant's commitment through the Symbiosis Coalition. Mombak expects a second issuance of roughly 80,000 tonnes of carbon removal credits later this year, bringing total 2026 issuance above 100,000 tonnes. The company says its methods incorporate lessons from nearly 100 field experiments on species selection and reforestation techniques.
