Moeve and ENSO partner on biomass and renewable gas for Spanish industrial decarbonisation
gasworld.comSpain's Moeve has agreed to work with ENSO on biomass and renewable gas solutions aimed at energy-intensive industries such as chemicals, paper, and food and beverage. The partnership focuses on replacing fossil fuels in processes where electrification is difficult, including high-temperature heat and steam. It may also cover upgrading biogas plants to biomethane and using biogenic CO2 from bioenergy facilities as feedstock for e-fuels, with Moeve potentially acting as offtaker. The announcement comes ahead of Spain's planned cogeneration auctions, which will award regulated support for 1.2GW of high-efficiency industrial power capacity. The European Commission has approved a EUR 3.1 billion Spanish state aid scheme to fund the programme over ten years, with the aim of cutting around 8.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions. The partnership is part of a broader push to give industrial customers lower-carbon heat and power options while improving energy security.
