Mitsubishi Electric has created a new method to estimate soil organic carbon in farmland using optical measurements and dynamics models. This approach removes the need for expensive and labor intensive soil sampling and laboratory chemical analysis. The technology is designed to support carbon reduction evaluations within Japan's GX-ETS market. By making large scale monitoring more affordable, it aims to help farmers improve soil fertility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
