MISC Group and K LINE have secured a long term charter to provide a newbuild liquefied carbon dioxide carrier for the Northern Lights CCS project. The 12,000 cubic metre vessel will transport captured CO2 from European industrial sites to permanent offshore storage in Norway. This second contract follows an initial agreement from January 2026, expanding the logistics capacity for industrial carbon management in Europe. The vessels will use dual fuel LNG propulsion to meet environmental standards while scaling the carbon transport value chain.

True, but the industrial side is the bottleneck. Most of these plants aren't built for liquefaction. The cost of the retrofit at the factory gate usually dwarfs the cost of the shipping contract.
