MISC and K Line have secured a contract for a second liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carrier to support the Northern Lights project in Norway. The vessel, built by Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Company, will transport captured CO2 from European industrial hubs to permanent offshore storage sites. This expansion increases the capacity of Europe's first open-access CCS network. The new 12,000 cubic-metre vessel will use dual-fuel LNG propulsion to reduce its own operational emissions while enabling more commercial customers to access carbon storage infrastructure.
