Microsoft has partnered with Danish BECCS firm BioCirc to purchase 650,000 carbon removal credits over seven years. The project captures CO2 from five biogas plants in Denmark and stores the emissions permanently in the North Sea via Ineos storage facilities. This agreement highlights the growing corporate reliance on Bioenergy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) to manage residual emissions. It follows a series of similar investments by Microsoft in Canada and Norway to scale permanent carbon displacement technologies.
