Mexico Carbon Forum 2026 to Focus on Carbon Markets, Taxes, and Offsets in Aguascalientes
mexicobusiness.newsThe sixth edition of Mexico Carbon Forum will take place September 2-3 in Aguascalientes, organized by MEXICO2, a subsidiary of the Mexican Stock Exchange. The event will cover the expansion of Mexico's Emissions Trading System, subnational carbon taxes, and voluntary carbon markets. Attendees from government, corporate, and academic sectors will discuss how to align these mechanisms with international greenhouse gas accounting standards to reduce legal risks and prevent greenwashing. The forum's agenda includes five tracks: connecting regulated and voluntary markets under compatible rules, using satellite verification and traceability to confirm real emission reductions, treating carbon as an investable asset, expanding ecological solutions like blue carbon and biochar, and improving corporate GHG measurement. State officials in Aguascalientes see the event as a way to position the region as a hub for sustainable finance and climate policy dialogue. The previous edition in Tampico drew over 3,000 attendees.
