Singapore based Metha8 and French start-up YAMA have won the 2026 Liveability Challenge for their scalable green technologies. Metha8 developed a system that converts methanol into baseload power with 60 percent efficiency and integrated carbon capture, while YAMA created a compact solution to capture emissions from dilute gas-fired streams in gas turbines. Both companies received 1 million dollars in grant funding to scale their operations. The initiative, supported by the Temasek Foundation, focuses on decarbonization and climate adaptation for urban environments in the tropics.
